The unexpected (in any season) can sometimes be the best gift! My special flower are lilies of the valley. They are sprinkled throughout my childhood and adulthood. And, I LOVE that you wonder about the lives of houses as I do the same. ☺️❤️

I marvel at my Lily bed , every winter the bed is exposed to the wrath of winter , yet very spring they are getting ready to bloom again in July . Nature gives me so much pleasure . I am a summer person and find winter harsh and miserable . This past winter I was lucky enough to witness so many interesting facets of the sky , different hues and shapes , it made such a great difference in the unrelenting short grey days

Chrissie, I also struggle with winter and worked hard to notice and appreciate delightful things during that dark season last time. I confess to already feeling a little bit of dread edging on as summer is marching on. But I do think I have managed a shift in my overall perspective, we’ll see if that holds! xo

It has taken a while to cope with winter . I bought a uv light , and this year didn’t use it much , but over time I have developed ways of going on to offset . I generally share a few photos so I want to show something interesting . Over time , I and have made more effort to notice more in a positive way by marvelling at nature and now I hone in more easily . Last years it was skies , or sometimes if I see birds which are scarce then I celebrate . I have taken to hibernating a bit so the grey days show up but I am somewhere cosy and try not to notice . You could try writing an affirmation . I incorporate them into my gratitudes and that is another practice that helps . Good luck for a marvellous winter , there is still plenty of summer left but this loss of it sets in too early . The darkness hit t 9.30 instead of 10 , I needed a cardigan . We don’t have enough of the really good bits …..

"The Land Remembers—and So Do I." So, SO beautiful, Dana! Thank you so much for sharing this! Like you, I tend to wonder what the stories are of places I pass by, often making them up, as we'll never (usually) know. And I know what you mean about a certain wistfulness that comes with autumn. For as long as I can remember, autumn has pretty much been my favorite time of year (except for Christmas, of course!) with those crisp mornings and cozy evenings, and everything that comes with it. However, with time going by more quickly than ever, it's comforting to know there's still some time left in THIS season, the season we're in right now—so we can be present and appreciate everything the moment has for us in the here and now. I'm so happy those pink ladies appeared! Such a perfect gift and beautiful surprise!

Such a wonderful response, Holly, thank you! If I had to pick a favorite season, it’s Fall and Spring…those fleeting transition seasons are so magical! xo

My grandma called them magic lilies. She had them in the backyard in her flower bed by the house. My friend up here called them naked ladies. I have a few from her in MY flower bed. They always make me happy too. (Of course) They sneak up on you with their beauty when you aren't expecting them.
